Greetings and Introductions - Master common greetings and introductions in Spanish

Welcome to Episode 2 of "Learn Spanish 5 Minutes per Day in 100 Days"! In this episode, we will immerse ourselves in greetings and introductions in Spanish. Let's get started!

Before we begin, it's important to remember that greetings and introductions are an essential part of communication in any language. In Spanish, there are a variety of ways to greet and introduce oneself, depending on the time of day and the context. Let's learn the most common ones.

Let's start with greetings. The most basic way to say "hello" in Spanish is "hola," which is similar to English. But there are also other forms used depending on the time of day.

For example, in the morning, we say "buenos días."

Listen and repeat after me: "buenos días."

Great!

For the afternoon, we say "buenas tardes."

Repeat after me: "buenas tardes."

Excellent!

And when it's nighttime or when we want to say goodbye, we say "buenas noches."

Repeat: "buenas noches."

Very good!

In addition to formal greetings, there are also informal expressions to ask how someone is doing. One of them is "¿Qué tal?" which means "How are you?"

Listen and repeat: "¿Qué tal?"

Perfect!

Another common expression is "¿Cómo estás?" which also means "How are you?"

Repeat after me: "¿Cómo estás?"

Very well!

Now let's move on to introductions. In Spanish, to say "My name is..." we use the phrase "Me llamo..." followed by our name. Let's practice together. Say "Me llamo" and then your name. For example, "Me llamo María."

Now it's your turn.

Well done! Now, to ask "What's your name?" we say "¿Cómo te llamas?" Repeat after me: "¿Cómo te llamas?"

Fantastic!

When we want to introduce someone else, we use the phrase "Te presento a..." followed by the person's name. For example, "Te presento a Juan."

Try saying it yourself.

And when someone is introducing you to another person, it's polite to respond by saying "Mucho gusto," which means "Nice to meet you."

Repeat after me: "Mucho gusto."

Very good!

During a presentation in Spanish, it's important to remember to be polite and respect cultural norms. Take your time to practice these greetings and introductions, and soon you'll be able to confidently greet and introduce yourself in Spanish.
