Episode 53: Double Object Pronouns

Welcome to Episode 53 of Learn Spanish 5 Minutes per Day in 100 Days! In this episode, we will explore the usage of double object pronouns in Spanish. Double object pronouns are used when both a direct and indirect object are present in a sentence. Let's dive in and understand how to use double object pronouns!

Pronombres de objeto doble.

Double Object Pronouns.

Repeat: Pronombres de objeto doble.

In Spanish, when we have both a direct object and an indirect object in a sentence, we can use double object pronouns to replace these objects. The order of the pronouns is as follows:

  • Indirect Object Pronoun (IOP) + Direct Object Pronoun (DOP)

Let's see some examples:

Le di el libro a Juan.

I gave the book to Juan.

Repeat: Le di el libro a Juan.

Le + lo = Se lo di.

I gave it to him.

Repeat: Se lo di.

Me trajiste los dulces.

You brought me the sweets.

Repeat: Me trajiste los dulces.

Me + los = Me los trajiste.

You brought them to me.

Repeat: Me los trajiste.

Remember, when using double object pronouns, the indirect object pronoun always comes before the direct object pronoun.

Practice using double object pronouns in sentences to replace both the direct and indirect objects. It will help you communicate more efficiently and naturally in Spanish.

In the next episode, we will explore the past perfect tense in Spanish.

Stay tuned and keep up the great work!

¡Hasta luego!

See you later!
